To facilitate this, there was a neat mechanic where you could look out the side window of your car and shoot a pistol at a heavily damaged car to try and ding the driver, thus leaving their car in better shape and hopefully allowing you to score whatever sweet gear might've otherwise gone up in flames-maybe a nice 30mm turret, for example, or a new engine? But my favourite part was that you could salvage the wrecks of your enemies for better parts. You could configure your car to your heart's delight, swapping out weapons, changing armor and chassis settings, and repairing damaged parts. There have been plenty of car combat games, but as far as I'm concerned this is the top of the heap. Oh, one more that I'm not totally sure qualifies, but I don't feel like I see people talking about it ever even though I think it was more popular than some games in this thread:
